Martin Boddy is Professor of Urban and Regional Studies and Pro Vice Chancellor responsible for research and business engagement at the University of the West of England, Bristol. He graduated with a first class degree from the University of Cambridge where he also studied for his PhD. He worked for many years at the University of Bristol, with shorter spells in Canada and Australia, before moving to UWE, Bristol in 2002. He has a national and international reputation for his work on economic development, industrial change, private sector housing markets, and the changing fortunes of urban areas. His work has also included a strong focus on the West of England and the South West. He was, for a number of years, an economic advisor to the SW Regional Development Agency. He is on the Advisory Board of the West of England Initiative and contributed to the development of the Strategic Growth Plan for the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership.
