Simon is the Senior Planning Partner in Barton Willmore’s Bristol office. His Practice is the largest employer of town planners in the UK. Locally, Simon has overall responsibility for the work of its planning team as well as being directly involved in a wide range of projects. He is involved as lead consultant in major housing, mixed use and commercial development proposals. He has appeared as an expert witness at Local Plan Examinations and Appeals. He has a keen interest in localism as well as strategic planning in the West of England, and has provided advice to a number of neighbourhood planning groups. He helped draft the HBF’s note to its Members on the Localism Bill and has been part of the British Chambers of Commerce Expert Planning Group providing feedback to DCLG and Ministers. Up until 2014 he chaired the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership’s Construction and Development Sector Group and has continued to offer support and advice to the LEP and WoE Office.
