North Somerset’s Hive the new home for Barclays networking events
Barclays free networking events in North Somerset are relocating from 30 July to The Hive business development centre in Weston-super-Mare.
The Hive enterprise hub which celebrated its first anniversary last month, offers workspace with easy-in easy-out terms, conference and meeting rooms for the use of tenants and the wider community, a business lounge, hot desks and virtual office tenancies, alongside business advice, support and training.
The first networking event at the new venue saw Michael Cahill of Albert Goodman Lewis deliver a budget update and the second meeting on the 26th August will see Rachel Brastock of Understanding Talent Ltd lead a talk on ‘What is your definition of career success?’.
Previously held on The Grand Pier, the Barclays events are organised in conjunction with Weston-super-Mare Chamber of Commerce. Customers and non-customers can meet with members of their Business team on an informal basis and have the opportunity to network with other business owners. The events are free to attend, although pre-booking is essential, and open to businesses of all sizes with around 70 business people attending each month.
Jenny Trapnell, Business Relationship Manager at Barclays for the North Somerset and Bristol Area says: “With a growing following and a new venue to enjoy we are looking forward to seeing both old friends and new businesses at The Hive each month. With its easy to access location, ample free car parking and light, airy meeting space, we believe this will be a superb setting for our networking.
“We are grateful to the Weston-super-Mare Chamber of Chamber and North Somerset Enterprise Agency for helping us make the transition and to The Grand Pier for their hospitality as our group has grown.”
The Hive’s Centre Manager Rob Hicks says: “It is our pleasure to welcome Jenny, the Barclays team and their networking guests to The Hive which, we are proud to say, is increasingly becoming the venue of choice in North Somerset for business meetings large and small.
“Already the chosen venue for meetings of the Federation of Small Businesses, North Somerset Council and others, we are delighted to also be entrusted with hosting Barclays Networking meetings and look forward to providing a warm welcome.”

Wednesday August 26 – “What is your definition of career success?” by Rachel Brastock of Understanding Talent Ltd
Wednesday September 30- “LinkedIn for Business” with Mark Stonham
