Stride Treglown recognised and rewarded for their Green efforts

West of England Initiative members Stride Treglown, one of the largest architectural practices in the UK, have been named most improved in the Happy and Healthy category of the Go Green 2016 awards.

During Bristol’s year as European Green Capital they organised a programme of internal events each month exploring a sustainable theme, lead by a different in-house team each time.

Examples of this included ‘Sustainable Me’, in which there was an inter-team 5k run across the Clifton Downs, and ‘Sustainable Working’ where creative workplaces and alternative ways of working were discussed.

In March they implemented a staff car-sharing commuting scheme which has been widely adopted across the company.

In June Stride Treglown became the first organisation to achieve the top award of Excellence in all 8 standards of the Workplace Wellbeing Charter. During this month they also had an action-packed ‘Business Green Week’ which included a commuting race, and they helped other organisations run their own weeks.

And finally December saw the 1st birthday of their office electric car – also known as ‘Zoe’.

Over the course of the last year they have established our ‘baseline’ energy usage and carbon footprint from scope 1 and 2 emissions. Their target for next year is to decrease energy consumption and emissions.
